Subtitle Converter: SRT to VTT, VTT to SRT and Plain Text

SRT, VTT and plain text

Convert subtitle files between SRT, VTT and plain text. Text only, no video upload.

This tool is available on the paid plans (Creator, Pro and Studio). It does not use tool credits.

Convert subtitle files between SRT, WebVTT (VTT) and plain text. Paste your subtitles or load a file and download the converted version. It works as text only, in your account, with no video upload.

How it works

The converter reads the timings and text of every subtitle, then writes them in the format you choose. SRT and VTT keep all timings and basic italic, bold and underline tags. Converting to plain text drops timings and tags and keeps one line per subtitle line. Plain text to SRT or VTT has no real timings, so each line gets a fixed duration that you choose, and you should fix the timing afterwards.

Steps

  1. Sign in and make sure you are on a paid plan (Creator, Pro or Studio).
  2. Open Subtitle Converter and paste your subtitles or load an SRT, VTT or TXT file.
  3. Choose the output format.
  4. Press Convert and download the file.

Who it is for

  • Creators who need VTT for a website player and SRT for social platforms
  • Editors who receive subtitles in the wrong format
  • Anyone who wants the plain text of a subtitle file

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert SRT to VTT?

Paste the SRT or load the file, choose VTT as the output and press Convert. Timings change from 00:00:01,000 to 00:00:01.000 and the WEBVTT header is added.

Can it convert VTT to SRT?

Yes. Both directions work, and the format of the input is detected automatically.

Is Hindi text supported?

Yes. Files are read and written as UTF-8, so Hindi and other Indian scripts are kept exactly. You can add a byte order mark if an old player needs it.

Is this tool free?

No. This tool is available on the paid plans (Creator, Pro and Studio). The Free plan cannot use it. See the pricing page for plans. It does not use tool credits or clipper minutes, and no AI is involved.

How many conversions can I do?

Subtitle tools (Subtitle Converter and Subtitle Timing Fixer share one allowance): Creator 200 uses per month, Pro 400, Studio 1000. A conversion that fails is not counted.

What about plain text with no timings?

Plain text to SRT or VTT gives each line the same duration (you choose it, for example 3 seconds). These are placeholder timings, so adjust them with the Subtitle Timing Fixer or your editor.
