Subtitle Timing Fixer: Shift or Sync SRT and VTT Subtitles

Shift or sync subtitles

Shift SRT or VTT timings by milliseconds, or sync them with two anchor points. Text only.

This tool is available on the paid plans (Creator, Pro and Studio). It does not use tool credits.

Fix subtitles that appear too early or too late. Shift every subtitle by a number of milliseconds, or sync the whole file with two anchor points when the delay grows over time. Works with SRT and VTT, as text only.

How it works

Shift adds or subtracts the same number of milliseconds from every start and end time. Two-point sync takes two subtitles and the times they should appear at, then stretches or squeezes every timing in between and after, which fixes the drift between a 25 fps and a 24 fps version of the same video. Subtitles that would end before 00:00:00 are removed and starts are never negative.

Steps

  1. Sign in and make sure you are on a paid plan (Creator, Pro or Studio).
  2. Open Subtitle Timing Fixer and paste your SRT or VTT, or load the file.
  3. Choose Shift all (milliseconds, + later or - earlier) or Sync with two points.
  4. Press Fix timing and download the corrected file.

Who it is for

  • Creators whose subtitles are a second or two off
  • Editors fixing a subtitle file made for a different cut or frame rate
  • Anyone syncing subtitles to a video they trimmed

Frequently asked questions

How do I fix subtitles that are 2 seconds late?

Choose Shift all and enter -2000 (milliseconds). Negative values make subtitles earlier and positive values make them later.

What is two-point sync?

You pick two subtitles (usually one near the start and one near the end) and tell the tool when each should appear. Every other timing is stretched or squeezed in proportion, which fixes subtitles that drift out of sync over time.

Does it keep my formatting?

It keeps the text and basic italic, bold and underline tags. SRT stays SRT and VTT stays VTT. Positioning and styling from VTT files is not kept.

Is this tool free?

No. This tool is available on the paid plans (Creator, Pro and Studio). The Free plan cannot use it. See the pricing page for plans. It does not use tool credits or clipper minutes, and no AI is involved.

How many times can I use it?

Subtitle tools (Subtitle Converter and Subtitle Timing Fixer share one allowance): Creator 200 uses per month, Pro 400, Studio 1000. An attempt that fails (for example an invalid file) is not counted.

Can it detect the right offset automatically?

No. You enter the shift, or the two anchor times, yourself; the tool does not listen to the audio.
